Connie Tang to join the group as a RISE Scholar for the summer

Connie Tang, an undergraduate student in chemistry at the University of Toronto, will be joining the group during the summer of 2015 as a RISE Scholar. Through a highly competitive  process, Connie was chosen as one of twelve RISE Scholars to participate in the research exchange program.

Weiying He to join group this summer as a Globalink Research Intern

Weiying He from Sichuan University will be joiing the group this coming summer as part of the MITACS Globalink program, Weiying will be working on probing the electronic structure of metal dioxygen complexes using computational tools to understand the nature of bonding in these systems.

Chantal's work on the covalency of halogen bonds has just been published by the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Jessica has spent the last three months in the group studying halogen bonded systems using a combination of spectroscopic and structural methods. As the result of only these few months of work, we are planning a publication in the new year that will showcase the results that she has obtained.

After completing her doctoral degree in the group and spending the last year working as a postodoctoral fellow, Thamy will be leaving the group to pursue other opportunities.

Lots of fun at the 2014 Group Holiday Party

Everybody gathered at Pierre's place to celebrate the holiday season by eating too much lasagna, drinking sweet German mulled wine and exchanging gifts. We had a great crowd of people and made "Feuerzangenbowle" for the first time (it's German holiday mulled wine with an additional twist - a fiery sugar cone doused in rhum!).
