Graduate scholarship opportunity for francophones from outside Québec

The Fondation Baxter & Alma Ricard provides graduate scholarships for francophone students from areas where french-speakers are in a minority (basically - francophones from outside Québec). These three-year scholarships are designed to support such students during their graduate studies.

Hans Yang, a 4th year honours student in Chemistry at UBC, has just joined the group to perform his honours thesis research. He will be working on the chemistry of ruthenium dimers of interest as potential intermediates in anticancer activity. It should be a fun year!

Jessica Klocke, a visiting student from Bielefeld Universitat, has joined the group for a three month internship. She will be working on both halogen bonding as well as investigating the chemical behaviour of some mixed-valence Ru dimers of relevance to anticancer treatments.

Tulin successfully defends her doctoral thesis

Tulin successfully defended her thesis today on the electronic structure of sulfonamides and N-hydroxysulfonamides. She has a few corrections before making her final submission but that should be done very soon. Unfortunately, this also means that Tulin will be leaving the group.
